Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/8 cup raspberries or 1/2 cup strawberries
- Crushed ice
- 1 tablespoon berry syrup
- 3/4 cup sparkling water
- Splash of half-and-half
Instructions
- In a saucepan, boil the sugar and water until the sugar begins to dissolve.
- Add the berries and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the berries turn to mush and the liquid thickens.
- Strain the mixture over a bowl to separate the juice from the fruit. Discard the fruit and refrigerate the syrup until ready to use.
- Fill a tall glass with crushed ice.
- Pour 1 tablespoon of berry syrup over the ice.
- Pour in the sparkling water.
- Add a splash of half-and-half to taste.
- Use a straw to gently stir the mixture together.
