Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp orange zest
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp cream
  • 1 tbsp condensed milk
  • Aguardiente to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, vanilla, and orange zest, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  2. Cook the mixture over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and condensed milk. Add the cream and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add a few tablespoons of the warm milk into the egg yolk mixture, stirring after each addition.
  5. Slowly incorporate the egg yolk mix into the warm milk mixture, stirring continuously until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
  7. Add the desired amount of aguardiente and refrigerate until ready to serve.
